No one has a perfect life. We all know that it comes with its ups and its downs. At some point, everyone has experienced hardships in their life, some big and some small. At times it can be difficult to focus on what's good when we're faced with challenges and negativity. So I've put together this post to help us be happier and more positive, allowing us to remind ourselves of what is great in our lives.

WRITE IN A JOURNAL
Take note of all the things that make you smile or feel good throughout the day. This could be anything from eating a great meal to receiving a compliment from someone to laughing at something on TV. Write something in your journal each night - you might have to look harder some days more than others but there is something positive in every day! Then whenever you're feeling down, read over some of the things you've written down to remind yourself of all the good things that have happened to you.

KEEP INSPIRATION CLOSE
Keep a picture of a positive, motivational quote or something that makes you happy close by you. A really good place is your background on your phone, tablet of computer. Mine is a picture of my puppy - it's impossible for me not to feel happy when I see her. You could also re-design the most-used spaces in your home, e.g. your bedroom or desk. Create a board of mantras, quotes and images that you think portray happiness and positivity, add a few wonderfully scented candles or flowers, or frame photos of those in your life that mean the most to you.

DO WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY
If you're having a bad day or aren't feeling particularly good about yourself, make sure you take the time to do an activity that you love. It will make you feel better by distracting you from the day you've had, and allow you to re-focus and (re-)build self-confidence.

ALWAYS STAY TRUE TO YOURSELF
There is absolutely no point in trying to force yourself to be someone that you're not. It will only lead to disappointment and discontent. No one is going to accept you for who you are if you don't accept you for who you are. Never be afraid or embarrassed to let your true self shine, to be yourself - you are unique.

SIMPLY LAUGH
When was the last time you had a really good belly laugh, to the point where you couldn't breathe or your tummy was in pain? Laughing is such a simple way to feel good. Dedicate five minutes of your day to watching some comedy on YouTube, and watch a funny movie or TV show once a week. Trust me, you'll feel amazing after a good laugh.
